I spent my first 19 years in Dermbach, a small village in Rheinland Pfalz, Western Germany, where I learned English from an early age. I have been a member of the American Translators Association since 2011, have dual U.S./German citizenship and have worked as a professional English/German translator since 2010. My clients range from translation agencies of all sizes to direct clients in myriad industries. I feel equally at home in both languages and cultures, and I am familiar with the intricacies of both my source and target language.
I love what I do and have had a passion for translation since a young age, beginning by trying to understand the English lyrics to songs I liked on the radio. Before starting my own translation service, which I have operated successfully since 2010, I worked at the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Germany and subsequently lived, worked and raised my family on three continents: Europe, Asia, and, the past 16 years in the Washington, DC area.
Many of my projects consist of marketing materials, particularly in the fields of retail, health and beauty, fitness products, and a variety of other advertising and corporate fields. Some of my recent projects include the translation of a 100,000+ word website for a leading supplier of nutritional supplements, various marketing brochures for global cosmetics companies, creative product descriptions for a leading supplier of CrossFit fitness equipment as well as countless marketing research surveys. My particular strength is deep-seated cultural understanding of both the North American and German populations, being a member of both, and my knowledge of when to use formal as opposed to idiomatic or colloquial text. I am equally fluent in British English and American English, including British business English and American business English.
My feedback from my clients has been consistently excellent. Besides the quality of my work, you can depend on my reliability, ability to adhere to your deadlines and my exceptional attention to detail. Please get in touch for a quote and I will be happy to translate and transform your next project for you.
